Job summary

MW Components, Inc. is seeking a seasoned machinist to set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and related tools in Corona, CA. You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop production tooling and ensure precise tolerances are met.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and working instructions, with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and process improvement. Proficiency in machining math and measurement is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 5 years of prototype and tooling experience or proven mastery.
  • Proficiency with machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools accurately.
  • Solid understanding of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
  • Operate conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to create production tooling.
  • Complete set-ups and operate with minimal supervision/assistance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for accurate machining.
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
  • Adjust machine settings to meet tolerances and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues including tool wear and programming errors.
  • Maintain accurate production records (travellers, inspection reports, logs).
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines for safe operation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to improve processes.
  • Comply with safety standards and ISO/AS quality requirements.
  • Other duties as needed to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
  • Operate conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to create production tooling
  • Complete set-ups and operate equipment with minimal supervisions/assistance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for efficient and accurate machining.
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring devices.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, material inconsistencies, and programming errors.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.
  • Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required
