Job summary

The Pond Guy is seeking a Product Development Engineer in Michigan to own products from concept through production launch. This hands-on role covers mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.

You’ll balance performance, manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost to bring pond and water garden products to market. You will lead prototypes, validate designs, and guide production readiness, while continuously improving

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience developing physical/mechanical products.
• Experience taking physical products from concept through prototype, testing, validation, and production launch.
• Experience with pumps, motors, fluid handling, rotating equipment, electromechanical systems, or similar mechanical systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple product development projects from concept to production launch.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and engineering partners.
• Lead design reviews ensuring alignment with performance and cost targets.
• Design components and assemblies in SolidWorks with DFMA considerations.
• Build and test prototypes with in-house equipment and 3D printing.
• Drive product improvements through testing, root cause analysis, and benchmarking.
• Provide engineering support across business units as needed.
