Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. seeks a Hardware Engineering Technician to support R&D activities in testing proto units and boards, with opportunities for investigative troubleshooting to component level.

Essential duties include basic hardware tests, prototype assembly, ECO processing, and collaboration with engineers in a team environment. The role emphasizes documentation and learning new skills.

Qualifications

• Two-year electronic technology or related associate degree.
• Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
• Familiarity with modern test equipment.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic electronic hardware tests in accordance with defined engineering procedures or guidelines.
• Build engineering prototypes under the direction of an electrical engineer or experienced technician; document prototype construction and maintain records.
• Assist engineers in evaluating new electronic components.
• Assemble test fixtures, load banks, and other components common to product development.
• Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
• Process ECOs of modest complexity under direction of engineers or technicians.
