Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking a Testing and Prototyping Engineer to join the Applied Innovation & Technical Services team in West Chicago, IL. This early-career role supports material, component, and full door testing, plus hands-on prototyping, collaborating with technicians, engineers, and R&D scientists to execute plans and communicate results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
• Hands-on lab, test, or prototyping work
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Willingness to learn across materials, processes, testing methods

Responsibilities

• Support execution of base material, component, and door/door system testing with technicians
• Assist with test setup, instrumentation, data collection across mechanical, environmental, durability tests
• Analyze data and prepare reports for engineers and scientists
• Document test methods and outcomes per internal standards
• Participate in prototype design and fabrication, assist concept development
• Support early-stage R&D and new product development programs
• Learn industry standards and internal test methods for doors and door systems
• Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods and lab processes
• Maintain safety, organization, and laboratory best practices
