Autocar, LLC, a leading severe-duty vocational truck manufacturer in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking a Prototype Technician to manufacture, assemble and validate prototype vehicles, systems, and components. The role involves installing parts, testing assemblies, and supporting design Engineers on prototype builds to meet performance goals.
The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of related experience, basic shop math and blueprint reading skills, and familiarity with CAD tools or Teamcenter.

This position is responsible for the manufacture, assembly and validation of prototypes and testing vehicles, systems, and components.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and schematics required.
Ability to interpret dimensions on a print and make modifications as necessary. Basic shop math skills are required. Ability to make concept prints for parts during prototyping phase.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
