Viasat Government in Reston, VA seeks an Associate SATCOM Systems Engineer to drive conceptual design, proof-of-concept testing, and rapid prototyping of L-band network topologies and hardware solutions.

You will analyze customer needs, coordinate with stakeholders, and hand off validated prototypes to the core engineering team for formal productization, with emphasis on GEO/LEO satellite communications and emerging NTN concepts.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or STEM discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in communication systems design, integration, and testing.
• Proficiency in satellite systems engineering, including mobile satellite systems; knowledge of GEO and LEO orbit satcoms.

• Requirements Gathering: Translate operational needs and market trends into technical concepts.
• Concept & Prototyping: Design and build prototype L-band user terminals and network topologies.
• Vendor & Outsource Management: Prepare SOWs and manage vendor timelines for prototyping externally.
• Testing & Validation: Set up bench-level and over-the-air tests to validate hardware and architectures.
• System Evaluation: Use RF test equipment to measure signal quality and link budgets.
