Job summary

Applied Physical Sciences Corp (APS) seeks a highly skilled mechanical technician-fabricator to support prototype and product fabrication at our Pawcatuck, CT facility. The role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with the Prototyping & Fabrication Department management team, engineering staff, and fellow technicians.

You will fabricate parts from drawings, measure materials, assemble components, and assist in welding/fabrication operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical fabrication experience or recent training graduate accepted
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measurement equipment
• Able to lift 50 pounds safely
• Experience reading engineering drawings and following procedures
• Ability to work independently or in a team

Responsibilities

• Fabricate mechanical parts from engineering drawings
• Measure raw material and verify finished dimensions
• Assemble components per drawings or instructions
• Plan work, obtain tools, and keep work area clean and organized
• Rig, lift, move, and stow equipment using cranes, slings, winches, forklift, jacks
• Operate mechanical test facilities with guidance
• Fabricate wood shipping containers and paint parts/assemblies
• Assist welding and fabrication preparation
