Job summary

MP Materials is seeking a hands-on Technician to support the Magnet Technology group in developing advanced manufacturing technologies for high-performance rare earth permanent magnets. Responsibilities include operating pilot plant equipment, preparing materials, collecting data, and documenting results to drive process development.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and compliance while contributing to a key U.S. manufacturing capability restoration.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of operation experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with record keeping in physical and electronic formats.
  • Strong discipline in following safety practices and standard work instructions.
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience operating equipment with HMI.
  • Experience in metal or ceramic manufacturing, including casting, powder processing, heat treatments, machining, and/or surface finishing.
  • Experience handling air-sensitive materials.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment for prototyping magnets with occasional support for production operations.
  • Prepare, handle, and process raw materials, powders, and samples according to SOPs.
  • Perform measurements and collect process data using laboratory instruments.
  • Assist in pilot-scale experimental trials and provide accurate documentation of results.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
  • Work closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world-class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
