Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation's Experiment Lab in El Segundo seeks an Experimental Machinist (Technical Specialist – Fabrication I) for our internal shop. This full-time, onsite role focuses on prototype hardware fabrication and assembly using CNC mills, lathes, and waterjet. Requirements include 1+ year experience, a high school diploma, Mastercam, and ability to read detailed prints with GD&T.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a clearance are required.

Qualifications

1 year or more of related experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with Mastercam software.
Ability to work from detailed prints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
Knowledge of GD&T tolerancing.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Fabrication and assembly of precision-machined prototype hardware.
Program, set up, and operate CNC Mills, lathes, waterjet, and related equipment.
Provide expertise on shop equipment like cut-off saws and belt sanders.
Machine alloys, ceramics, plastics, and exotic materials.
Inspect components using precision measuring tools and ensure specification compliance.
Participate in safety reviews and coordinate with EHS teams.
Perform daily cleaning and light maintenance of machines.
