Job summary

Milwaukee Tool’s Rapid Innovation Center seeks an Engineering Operator II to craft new-to-world prototypes, using state-of-the-art machinery. You’ll work with a driven team to support data collection and decision-making, ensuring parts meet specs and tolerances while contributing to the company’s competitive advantage.

You will travel as needed up to 10%, engage in problem-solving with leadership, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech environment that values safety and innovation.

Qualifications

• Journeyman machinist/tool & die certification, or minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• Prior experience in setting up and programming CNC equipment is required.
• Must have R&D mindset and be able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Strong proficiency in math to accurately calculate machine settings and make adjustments.
• Experience programming & operating CNC mills, lathes or similar equipment.
• Experience with MDI and G & M codes is required.

Your Role on Our Team:

Our Engineering Team is responsible to develop “Best-In-Class” products and manufacturing solutions with the highest level of quality. The Rapid Innovation Center Engineering Operator II plays a crucial role in providing innovative solutions to some of the most challenging machining requirements in industry that support our product development teams. This role ensures that prototypes are made accurately, efficiently and timely to aid in data collection and decision-making, enabling Milwaukee Tool in maintaining its competitive advantage. As an Engineering Operator II and member of the Rapid Innovation Center (RIC) at Milwaukee you will be responsible for creating new to the world prototypes, working with a driven team using industry leading technologies and equipment in a state of the art facility.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Independently set up, program and operate manual and CNC equipment including but not limited to; mills, lathes, grinders, stamping press, wire & sinker EDM, or other metal forming equipment to create prototypes or components to necessary dimensions and tolerances.
• Must be able to make necessary machine adjustments to meet engineering specifications.
• Select and set up appropriate work holding and tooling based on job requirements and specifications, applying knowledge of machining parameters and shop mechanics.
• Use hard gaging and/or vision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of first run part and finished parts ensuring compliance with print dimensions and tolerancing.
• Plans machining operations by studying blueprints, engineering plans, material specifications, machining parameters, and interpreting GD&T. Select proper materials to be used when applicable.
• Provide accurate time estimates to supervisor and collaborate with Engineering, exchanging information regarding work requests.
