Job summary

Coherent Corp. seeks a Machining Specialist to collaborate with R&D engineers in fabricating prototypes from advanced ceramic and metal matrix composite materials. You will prototype, program CNC equipment, and generate CAD/CAM outputs while documenting data and creating training materials for manufacturing transfer.

On-site, first shift, 40 hours/week. BS in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of machining experience required; knowledge of GD&T and inspection tools is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2+ years of experience.
• Equivalent work and/or education/work experience considered.
• Hands-on prototyping and machining of prototypes from advanced materials.

Responsibilities

• Machining prototypes (milling, grinding, EDM, lapping) of advanced composites.
• Program equipment (MasterCAM, PC-DIMS, Calypso, MX, and others).
• Generate PC-based outputs (Creo, SolidWorks, Oracle, Agile, etc.).
• Maintain detailed process and product tracking.
• Participate in Lean/Kaizen, ISO, 8D for continuous improvement.
• Transfer successful products to manufacturing with documentation and training.
