Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Hardware Test & Prototype Technician to turn concepts into working hardware in our South San Francisco facility. You will assemble prototypes, modify hardware, and build test fixtures while working with a cross-functional engineering team.

You will instrument tests, record data, and help troubleshoot issues to advance prototype development. Travel to Half Moon Bay, Sacramento, and other sites may be required, with safety as a core priority.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience assembling, testing, repairing, or maintaining mechanical or electromechanical hardware.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, assembly documentation, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
• Experience using common hand tools, power tools, torque tools, measurement equipment, and shop equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Assemble prototypes and test articles safely and efficiently.
• Interpret drawings, CAD views, and BOMs to guide assembly and test procedures.
• Instrument test articles and collect accurate data with appropriate equipment.
• Record observations, failures, and test results clearly for engineering review.
• Assist engineers with teardown, inspection, and root-cause investigations.
