Job summary

PTM Corporation in Fair Haven, MI is seeking a Fabrication Technician to join our Prototype Manufacturing team. You will fabricate, assemble, and repair precision sheet metal components, including Class A automotive body panels, using MIG, TIG, and resistance welding, and read blueprints and specs.

You will operate presses, brakes, routers, and other fabrication equipment, maintain quality, and document production in Plex ERP.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of fabrication experience.
• Experience repairing and finishing Class A body panels.
• Proficiency with MIG, TIG, and resistance spot welding.
• Experience operating fabrication equipment including press brakes and shears.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong metal finishing and paint preparation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Ability to diagnose damage and determine effective repair methods.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair precision sheet metal components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and product specifications.
• Lay out, measure, and mark materials using shop mathematics and layout techniques.
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including presses brakes, shears, routers, forming rolls, and punch equipment.
• Shape sheet metal using hand tools, anvils, blocks, and hammer forms.
• Trim, grind, deburr, sand, polish, and finish fabricated parts.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring equipment.
