Job summary

GE Aerospace Research in Niskayuna, NY is seeking an early-career Design Engineer to develop mechanical designs and prototype hardware for advanced concepts. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to move laboratory concepts toward application-focused demonstrations and gain leadership experience through structured development.

In the first three years, you’ll build a strong technical foundation, participate in stretch assignments, and collaborate with peers to drive impactful aerospace

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Willing to work from GE Aerospace Research office in Niskayuna, NY.
• U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
• Background check and drug screen are required.

Responsibilities

• Independently design moderately complex prototype components and test-article features.
• Create 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and PLM records.
• Evaluate how designs affect interfaces, manufacturability, safety, and test fidelity.
• Troubleshoot design issues involving tolerances and assembly.
• Develop design alternatives and conduct feasibility assessments.
• Collaborate with researchers, machinists, and manufacturing teams to build and test prototypes.
• Deliver design work and communicate status and risks using engineering evidence.
• Incorporate feedback and drive CAD/PLM workflow improvements.
