Job summary

LiquidPiston, Inc. is seeking a skilled Prototype Machinist to machine precision engine prototype components on CNC mills and lathes. The role requires hands-on work with both CNC and manual equipment in a fast‑paced R&D setting.

Onsite in Bloomfield, CT with relocation to Suffield, CT planned for later in 2026. Responsibilities include program generation, setup, and part inspection while collaborating with engineers to refine prototype designs.

Qualifications

• Proficiency operating and programming CNC mills and lathes; multi-axis milling preferred.
• Strong reading and interpretation of complex drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with MasterCam is preferred but not required.
• Ability to operate manual machine tools (surface grinder, Bridgeport, manual lathe).
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently on prototype projects.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines and lathes with emphasis on multi-axis milling.
• Use Haas and Fanuc controls for complex machining operations.
• Create and optimize programs using MasterCam when applicable.
• Produce high-precision prototype components from drawings and 3D models.
• Inspect parts to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Operate manual machines (surface grinder, Bridgeport mill, manual lathe) as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine prototype designs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
