Job summary

Sterling Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician in Bolingbrook, IL on a contract-to-hire basis. The role supports an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team with hands-on prototype work, CAD interpretation, and collaboration with assembly and production teams.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, 0–2 years of experience, and exposure to AutoCAD or Creo. Training on PLCs and other tools will be provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on prototype assembly for new product development.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and bills of materials.
• Basic CAD skills; training provided for AutoCAD & Creo.
• Reading and interpreting technical documentation and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Assist with building prototypes for new product development and assembly projects.
• Part placement using templates and measurements with proper documentation.
• Assemble components and subassemblies ensuring proper fit and fastening.
• Read blueprints, shop drawings and BOMs to guide work.
• Safely operate small hand and power tools and support the engineering team.
