Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA, is hiring a Junior Proton Physicist to support the newly developing proton therapy program within the Taubman Cancer Center. The role is part of a Physics Department with multiple physicists, dosimetrists, and engineers, and involves integration with Radiation Oncology and related services.

The position offers a generous sign-on bonus up to $30,000 and relocation assistance up to $7,000, with opportunities to participate in voxel-based dosimetry and ongoing

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or a closely related field is required.
• Ability to apply medical physics principles to support radiation safety, equipment performance, and clinical quality.
• Certification by the ABR must be obtained within five years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiation safety and QA surveys for diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology.
• Provide medical physics services to regulatory and accrediting agencies, including NRC and Joint Commission.
• Support education and training of staff and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
