Job description

The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 PREC with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
PROTESTANT RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COORDINATOR (PREC) - LUKE AFB AZ
1. CONTRACT POSITION TITLE: Protestant Religious Education Coordinator
2. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Protestant Religious Education (RE) Coordinator serves as a resource person, advisor and coordinator of RE for the Luke Air Force Base (Chapel Corps Protestant Program). The coordinator shall assist the senior ranking Protestant Chaplain, or designee, in performing services to meet the spiritual needs of all active duty personnel, their families, and other authorized personnel.

3. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS.
  • 3.1. Furnish a resume including academic and work related references: include four years’ experience as religious education coordinator or teacher.
  • 3.2. Ability to develop short and long-term growth plan for the RE program. Be able to work in a pluralistic environment, managerial experience, secretarial skills and computer proficiency.
  • 3.3. Have prior experience working with all ages: children, adolescent, and young adult, adult.
  • 3.4. Obtain, within 90 days of this contract, Red Cross First Aid Training, CPR Training, and Infant CPR Training at no cost to the PREC. PREC must provide a copy of their Red Cross Card to the Superintendent of Chapel or NCOIC of Chapel Ops to be filed.
  • 3.5. Be at least 21 years of age.
  • 3.6. Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Protestant faith, practice, and traditions.
  • 3.7. Demonstrate the ability to maintain healthy, functional interpersonal relationships with coworkers, chapel staff and parishioners via resume references.
  • 3.8. Be qualified to perform the required services with minimal direction.
  • 3.9. Applicant is subject to a personal background investigation CNACI. Mandatory disqualifying criteria include any conviction of sexual offense, a drug felony, a violent crime, or a criminal offense involving a child or children.
4. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES.
  • 4.1. Be an active member in the Protestant Chapel program. Candidates for this position must be able to work with chaplain from multiple denominations.
  • 4.2. Must be able to maintain neat, clean and well-groomed professional appearance and conduct themselves in a businesslike manner.
  • 4.3. Ensure security, cleanliness, and original configuration of all facilities utilized in conjunction with religious education programs.
  • 4.4. Assist in development, scheduling, and implementation of annual Protestant Religious Education programs and activities for all ages. These activities include, but are not limited to: RE, Sunday School, Children’s Church, Bible Studies, Vacation Bible School (VBS), Protestant Youth of the Chapel (PYOC), fellowships, socials, and other programs as directed by the senior ranking Chaplain, or designee.
  • 4.5. Participate in at least one continuing education or professional development event each year when CTOF or appropriated funds are available.
  • 4.6. Comply with mandatory training requirements for all PRECs and be responsible for maintaining current training records. Training includes, but is not limited to Internet-based training, and First Aid and CPR recertification requirements, etc.
  • 4.7. Possess the qualities of integrity, professionalism, and positive work ethics in relation to chapel personnel and volunteers.
  • 4.8. Participate in staff training, meetings, and team building activities that will help facilitate continuity among staff members and chapel programs.
  • 4.9. Submit After-Action Reports (AAR) on religious education special events/programs as required.
  • 4.10. Assist in the preparation of MAJCOM and Wing directed inspections in areas related to RE.
  • 4.11. PREC work period shall be 20 hours per week to include weekends. PREC will coordinate with the senior ranking Protestant Chaplain or designee on the hours of operation within the office. The PREC will be required to post office hours of operation.
  • 4.12. Have basic working skills with computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • 4.13. Ensure key issued is not lost or misplaced and do not duplicate.
  • 4.14. The PREC shall ensure the pass and identification items required for contract performance are obtained.
  • 4.15. Submit monthly invoices by 5th of the following month with Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) as well as internal time sheet validated by NCOIC, Resource Management.
5. Specific Responsibilities.
  • 5.1. Participate in parish planning, Protestant Parish Advisory Council (PAC) as the RE representative, and other meetings involving Protestant ministries.
  • 5.2. Assist in the development of an annual CTOF budget and core religious education curriculum as directed by the senior ranking Chaplain, or designee. In addition the RE coordinator is responsible for executing RE budget requirements.
  • 5.3. Coordinate with Protestant program leaders, to produce an annual calendar of events for all Protestant RE programs working collaboratively with Protestant parish leaders, if appropriate.
  • 5.4. Recruit volunteers to ensure successful RE Program. Provide for their training, to ensure compliance with an Air Force Directives for example: literature, training, forms, and supplies.
  • 5.4.1. Provide orientation for new volunteer staff members in facilities, funding, religious education policies and available resources.
  • 5.4.2. Organize classes; recruit volunteer teachers, substitutes, and other necessary staff; trains teachers and provide workshops as required.
  • 5.4.3. Organize annual volunteer teacher training/refresher events each year. Plan an annual event to honor and recognize volunteer staff.
  • 5.5. Assist Protestant chaplains in planning/coordination of RE events and other activities to include special events/programs, e.g. the Fall Festival, etc.
  • 5.6. Coordinate and oversee all publicity needs for RE program.
  • 5.7. Maintain statistical data on attendance, classes and volunteers etc.
  • 5.8. Ensure all volunteers working with youth below the age of 18 receive a background check as directed by Department of Defense Instruction DODI 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks.
  • 5.9. Be responsible for ensuring all money is properly handled in accordance with Air Force Instructions and Chapel Operating Instructions.
  • 5.10. Plan, coordinate and submit accurate facility, and other support requests for all program events and activities with appropriate chapel staff in a timely manner.
  • 5.11. PREC is responsible for continuous contract performance throughout contract period. If a replacement becomes necessary, candidates must meet all Protestant RE Coordinator Qualifications. The government reserves the right to refuse any replacement candidate who does not meet all required qualifications. The PREC shall submit a résumé and references for each candidate.
6. HOURS/UNITS OF WORK:

Rates will be on a per unit basis. A unit is defined as a minimum of one hour teaching, coordinating, lesson planning, training, office hours, etc. Number of units performed may not exceed 1,040 for the year.
