Job summary

UTHealth Houston in Houston, Texas invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in proteomics at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine. The role advances mass spectrometry-based proteomics to study cancer and related diseases.

The incumbent will design and optimize LC–MS/MS experiments, analyze complex datasets, and contribute to AI-driven systems biology approaches while mentoring students and collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Strong background in proteomics with hands-on experience in HPLC and mass spectrometry.
  • Experience in cell culture, cell treatments, and laboratory-based assays.
  • Desirable: metabolomics, bioinformatics, functional genomics, or molecular biology.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently within a mentored, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and optimize experiments, including LC–MS/MS and related analyses.
  • Process, analyze, and interpret complex proteomics datasets.
  • Develop innovative proteomic approaches and AI-driven systems biology strategies.
  • Write manuscripts, technical protocols, and grant materials.
  • Train and mentor graduate students and other laboratory personnel.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers and contribute to new directions.
