Job summary

Zymo Research is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join Protein Group, a multidisciplinary team focused on protein engineering, enzyme discovery, and assay development. The successful candidate will express, purify, and assay enzyme variants and optimize kit protocols to translate bench work into consumer products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, genetics, life sciences, or related field.
• Experience with enzyme-based molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, nucleic acid purification).
• Experience with microbial cell culture techniques and recombinant protein expression/purification.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments for product development and protocol optimization.
• Express, purify, and assay enzyme variants and analyze data to inform progress.
• Collaborate with product managers, application, marketing, and manufacturing on technical details.
• Present findings through reports and conferences; contribute to IP and platform development.
• Keep current with literature and apply relevant findings to projects.
