Job summary

Blast Resource Group is seeking a creative structural engineer to join our Protective Structures team on blast-resistant building projects in Texas. You will contribute to the design and analysis of steel, concrete, and masonry systems and work with experienced mentors to grow technical expertise.

The role emphasizes collaborating with clients, leading small tasks, and opportunities to advance into project management and business development within BRG’s expanding practice.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Structural Engineering required; MS preferred.
• 5-15 years of experience in structural engineering and design of protective structures.
• Experience preparing construction documents including plans, sections, details, calculations, and specifications.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Willingness to travel 25-30% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks assigned by project managers.
• Develop structural calculations for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and cold-formed steel systems.
• Prepare design criteria, specifications, and engineering reports.
• Review shop drawings and fabrication submittals.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and external consultants.
• Participate in proposal preparation and project planning.
• Mentor junior engineers and EITs.
• Support field investigations and condition assessments.
• Conduct nonlinear blast response analysis, develop structural design concepts, prepare design specifications, and review structural drawings and numerical calculations.
• Create, review, and revise drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to project and client requirements and company standards.
• Collaborate closely with the sales and project management teams to ensure projects meet project and client requirements.
• Write engineering summary reports and develop calculation packages.
