Job summary

Triple Canopy in California is seeking staff armed security personnel to safeguard facilities, personnel, and visitors in the San Jose region. You may also support operations from a Control Center.

The role emphasizes vigilance, deterrence, and rapid response to alarms and emergencies. Ideal candidates bring armed security experience, appropriate California certifications (BSIS Guard Card, Baton, Exposed Firearm Permit), and current CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum two years armed security experience within the past five years or equivalent military/National Guard service or state-certified law enforcement training.
• High School diploma or equivalent; U.S. education validated for foreign credentials if applicable.
• U.S. citizen with valid social security number and California driver’s license.
• BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit with .40 caliber or ability to add to permit prior to interview; BSIS Guard Card; BSIS Baton Permit.
• In-person CPR/AED/First Aid certification; OC Spray certification or permit.
• Must meet medical, physical and drug test standards; pass a psychological assessment and background screening.
• Successful completion of required training and certification.

Responsibilities

• Staff armed security posts and provide security for personnel, visitors, and property in the San Jose area; may work in a Control Center.
• Protect personnel and property in a professional manner; meet and greet the public.
• Screen and process visitors; identify, report, delay or detain violators.
• Conduct internal and external roving patrols; traffic control as necessary.
• Maintain detection capabilities, respond to alarms and emergencies; secure entrances/exits during incidents.
• Manage keys and access control; communicate via two-way radio or company cell phone.
• Observe and report offenses/incidents; complete required reports and paperwork.
• Provide first aid/CPR during emergencies; maintain fitness, agility, and weapon qualifications.
• Support safety programs and participate in quality/process improvement.
• Acquire and maintain security clearance; perform other duties as assigned; regular in-person attendance required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Staff armed security posts and provide security for the personnel, visitors, and property of various buildings within the San Jose area. May also work in a Control Center.

PAY TRANSPARENCY/COMPENSATION

• Rate of Pay: $33.93/hr
• Health and Welfare: $5.50/hr
• Paid training for 2.5 weeks at full hourly rate

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide security for various buildings by conducting perimeter security, internal security, monitoring screens, etc.
• Protect personnel and property in a professional manner
• Meet and deal tactfully and politely with general public and visitors
• Effectively and efficiently screen and process visitors
• Identify, report, delay or detain persons who violate rules and regulations
• Conduct internal and external roving foot patrols
• Traffic control as necessary
• Maintain excellent detection rate on x‑ray machine
• Detect and respond to alarms and emergencies
• Secure entrances and exits during emergencies
• Control keys and lock combinations
• Communicate and remain accessible via two‑way radio or company‑issued cellular phone
• Understand and comply with all requirements, plans, policies, procedures
• Observe and report all offenses/incidents
• Complete all reports and paperwork as required
• Provide first aid, CPR, and assist during emergencies as necessary
• Wear protective body armor as part of the duty uniform
• Maintain mandated training requirements in accordance with company guidance
• Maintain physical fitness, agility requirements, and weapons qualifications
• Ensure safety requirements compliance and safe work practices
• Support safety programs and participate in quality and process improvement programs
• Acquire, and maintain, a security clearance
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Regular, in‑person attendance is required

QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess at least one of the following experience criteria:
  • Minimum of two years armed experience within the past five years
  • Two years of military or National Guard service with honorable discharge
  • Successful completion of a state‑certified law enforcement education and training or police officer’s standard training course
• Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent from a U.S. accredited school. Foreign education must be evaluated to meet U.S. education requirements
• Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid social security card
• Current California driver’s license
• BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit with .40 caliber or proof of active firearm permit and qualification to add .40 caliber to permit prior to interview
• BSIS Guard Card
• BSIS Baton Permit
• Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification (must be in‑person, online‑only certifications not accepted)
• OC Spray or Pepper Spray certification or permit
• Must meet all medical, physical, and drug test standards
• Must be able to pass a psychological assessment
• Meet background screening requirements
• Successful completion of training and certification
