Firefly Children & Family Alliance is looking for a full-timeProtective Order Advocate. The Protective Order Advocate works in the community to provide direct support, education, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. Our program works to provide resources and education for safety, healing, and growth, and to promote community awareness and engagement in addressing these issues. Responsibilities
Direct Advocacy Service (70%)
  • Provide direct protective order-related advocacy services, in person and via other forms of communication, to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, harassment and stalking.
  • Work with clients to determine, implement, and monitor action plans to address needs, including safety plan.
  • Make referrals to community resources and on-going services.
  • Assist in connecting survivors with or obtaining information from protective order process stakeholders to address needs and concerns of survivors.
  • Observe protective order court hearing sessions.
  • Provide advocacy support via hospital response.
  • Apply appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as required.
  • Provide technical assistance and information on protective orders to direct service professionals.
  • Provide community outreach and educational presentations on protective orders and available services.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all client information.

Indirect Advocacy Service (15%)
  • Develop a network of contacts and conduct outreach to local organizations and communities, to increase awareness of program and promotion of educational sessions.
  • Develop presentations and educational discussion topics related to protective orders (as assigned).
  • Develop specialized knowledge of Indiana Protective Order Statute and protective order process.
  • Represent the agency at community events or meetings to promote program services and advocate on behalf of survivors (as assigned).
  • Support Survivor Advocacy program volunteers.

Reporting (15%)
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely case records of client contacts and referrals.
  • Assist in keeping community referrals and resources information updated.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of work hours and schedule per agency standards.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of mileage and expenses per agency standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Social Work or related field or consummate experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships.
  • Capacity to work with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, harassment, and stalking.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Clear, effective communications skills.
