Job summary

Randolph County in North Carolina seeks an advanced, professional level CPS social worker to provide protective, investigative, counseling and case management services for at-risk children.

The role involves investigations, assessments, court testimony, and coordinating services under NC guidelines, with emphasis on timely response and documentation of interactions with families, collateral contacts, and service planning to ensure child safety.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work or related field, or equivalent combination.
• One year of social work experience; or two years with a Bachelor’s degree.
• Official transcripts must be included with the application.

Responsibilities

• Receive referrals and initiate investigations/assessments within NC statutes and CPS policy.
• Investigate and assess to determine abuse, neglect, or dependency; file where appropriate.
• Petition the court for immediate custody and arrange foster or relative placement as needed.
• Maintain case records and complete documentation until transfer to a foster/in-home worker.
• Prepare social histories and determine level of intervention to ensure safety.
• Inform clients of programs/services and coordinate involuntary services when required.
• Review results with supervisor and make recommendations on case disposition.
• Complete CPS investigations within required timeframes; manage case transfers or closures.
