Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical testing with a focus on protection and control equipment.
  • Experience with RTUs and telecom in HV utility and power generation sectors.
  • Experience in scoping, scheduling, and budgeting for electrical testing projects.

  • Install and maintain protective relay equipment and related technology.
  • Conduct functional testing for transmission lines and related systems.
  • Upgrade RTUs and telecom systems for various clients.

Job Details

Duties

  • Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFRs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and communication processors
  • Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks
  • RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients
  • Experience with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787
  • Desired experience with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35, and T60
  • Required experience with various RTUs and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper, and Novatech

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology in a similar discipline, or Technical school diploma, or military experience in either Army Prime Power or Navy Nuclear electrical program
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in the electrical testing industry with a focus on working with protection and control equipment, RTUs, and telecom with HV utility, co-op, power generation, federal, or municipal clients
  • Experience with transmission and distribution relays including SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse
  • Experience with substation RTUs, communication processors, and telecom equipment for both brownfield and greenfield projects
  • Experience with scoping, scheduling, and budgeting processes for protection and control, RTU, and telecom projects for both internal and external entities
