Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer within the Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE) organization. The role supports compliance with NERC standards for configuration changes on the transmission grid.

Responsibilities include supporting Field Services in commissioning, reviewing outages, and ensuring consistency between as-built records and system drawings. PE licensure is encouraged for senior levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program
• Master's degree in engineering may be considered for SG7 entry
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology may satisfy degree if PE license obtained

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for final commissioning and verification of planned and unplanned work on the transmission grid.
• Review outages for applicable configuration changes.
• Review drawings and project data to ensure as-built condition matches system of record.
• Perform Root Cause analysis on discrepancies to drive process improvements and correct facility ratings and relay settings.
