Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks a Protection & Control Engineer to design and implement protection and control systems for substations and power networks. You will collaborate across teams to deliver compliant, high-quality engineering solutions, developing documentation, testing, and configurations for relay settings and SCADA integration.

You will work with customers, mentors, and project managers to ensure safety, reliability, and performance, while maintaining compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of protection and control engineering experience.
• Knowledge of protective relays, SCADA, and Modbus/DNP3/GOOSE.
• Familiarity with substation automation and HV equipment.
• Experience with DOBLE and OMICRON testing equipment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Candidate must already have work authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop protection and control schemes for substations and power systems.
• Prepare engineering documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay settings.
• Review and validate vendor equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate technical activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform relay testing, SCADA integration, and communication protocol verification.
• Support project managers with technical input for proposals and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with customers to optimize system performance and resolve design issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
