Essential Duties
  • Deliver in-depth instruction in advanced vehicle diagnostics, electronic systems troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs. Incorporate emerging technologies and complex problem-solving scenarios into the curriculum.
  • Provide intensive coaching and personalized feedback to students, with a focus on high-level diagnostics and repairs. Use advanced analytics to track student progress and tailor retraining efforts.
  • Conduct rigorous inspections of safety equipment and enforce stringent safety protocols. Take a proactive role in maintaining the highest safety standards in training environments.
  • Collaborate with industry experts to continuously update and refine curriculum materials to include cutting-edge diagnostic techniques and technologies.
  • Handle the most challenging diagnostic scenarios during training, demonstrating expert-level problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Lead strategic discussions with local leadership to enhance practical training opportunities that align with advanced curriculum goals.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of complex automotive systems, including diagnostics, electrical systems, and mechanical repairs.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and technological advancements in vehicle diagnostics and repair.
  • Familiarity with effective teaching methodologies tailored to adult learning, particularly in a technical or vocational training setting.
  • Expertise in using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electronic issues in vehicles.
  • Strong ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to students with varying levels of prior knowledge.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills to handle and instruct on unexpected issues during diagnostics and repairs.

Education, Experience, And Other Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in advanced diagnostics or a related field, with significant hands-on experience in high-tech automotive systems.
Certifications, Licensures, And Language Skills
  • Advanced certifications preferred, such as ASE Master Technician, Manufacturer-specific credentials, or diagnostics software certification.
Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, as the job involves hands-on instruction and diagnostic work. The instructor must be capable of lifting and maneuvering objects up to 50 pounds to handle vehicle parts and diagnostic equipment. This role also demands dexterity and coordination to perform precise and complex mechanical tasks. Good vision, corrective lenses acceptable, is essential for accurately assessing and diagnosing issues in intricate automotive systems. Additionally, the instructor should be able to work in various physical positions, including kneeling, bending, and reaching, to access and repair vehicle components.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily in workshop or garage settings where noise levels can be high due to equipment and machinery. Instructors will be exposed to various automotive fluids, lubricants, and cleaning products, necessating the use of personal protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection. Temperature variations in the work area can be significant, depending on the location and time of year, requiring preparedness to work in both hot and cold conditions. The environment is dynamic, requiring adaptability to different teaching spaces and setups based on the day’s instructional needs.
