Job summary

Shriners Children's Spokane seeks a Prosthetist and Orthotist to provide direct and indirect orthotics care, collaborating with physicians and supervising technicians in device fabrication. This role supports timely delivery of prosthetic and orthotic devices while upholding standards and best practices in patient care.

Required are a High School Diploma/GED, a degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics, ABC Certification, and BLS. CAD and central fabrication experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
• ABC Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a resource to physicians, patients, families, and other medical care providers in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
• Adapts to changes in the environment and leads staff in accepting positive change.
• Prioritizes workflow to meet deadlines for assigned tasks.
• Trains technicians in proper fabrication procedures.
• Coordinates department services to improve patient outcomes.
• Performs use, measurement, fabrication, fit, and care of orthotic and prosthetic devices.
• Documents patient care per departmental standards.

The Prosthetist & Orthotist assists physicians with prescription criteria, attends clinic and provides in-services for the clinic staff as specified by the Director of O&P. The practitioner also fabricates devices and directs the technicians in the fabrication of prosthetics and orthotics devices, assuring an organized and orderly work flow with reasonable delivery dates of devices to patients.
