Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Senior Propulsion Test Engineer to lead propulsion test campaigns for the X-BAT platform. You will own the test program end-to-end, from architecture to data-driven decisions, in a hands-on, cross-functional role.

The role requires 5+ years in propulsion/testing, hands-on test cell experience, and a strong background in data analysis and Python automation. U.S. citizenship and ITAR familiarity are important, with clearance being a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years propulsion/testing experience.
• Hands-on with engine test cells, test stands, instrumentation, DAQ.
• Strong understanding of gas turbine engine performance and test methodologies.
• Proficiency in Python for data reduction and analysis.
• Experience supporting flight test readiness and test-to-flight transitions.
• U.S. Citizenship or ability to comply with ITAR requirements.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.

Responsibilities

• Own propulsion test program from requirements through execution and handoff to flight.
• Architect, design, and build test stands and fixtures for engine and related testing.
• Define instrumentation plans, DAQ architecture, calibration and test procedures.
• Lead ground test campaigns including performance mapping and transient testing.
• Analyze test data to validate performance and drive design updates.
• Collaborate with propulsion and controls teams to close risk against CONOPS.
