Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Senior Propulsion Test Engineer to lead the planning and execution of propulsion test campaigns for the X-BAT platform. You will own test architecture, build test stands and fixtures, define instrumentation and DAQ methods, and drive test-to-flight handoffs.

You will serve as the propulsion testing focal point, working hands-on with propulsion, controls, airframe, and flight-test teams to ensure mission readiness and robust data analyses for design decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years propulsion or engine testing experience.
• Hands-on with engine test cells, test stands, instrumentation, DAQ.
• Strong gas turbine performance and transient knowledge.
• Python or similar for data reduction and automation.
• Experience supporting flight test readiness and test-to-flight transitions.
• U.S. Citizenship or ability to comply with ITAR.
• S//SAR clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own propulsion test program from requirements to flight handoff.
• Design and build test stands and fixtures for engine and TVC testing.
• Define instrumentation plans and DAQ architectures.
• Lead ground test campaigns with performance mapping.
• Analyze test data to validate performance and drive design changes.
• Collaborate with propulsion REs and controls engineers to close risk gaps.
• Drive root-cause investigations for test anomalies.
• Prepare test plans and readiness reviews; represent in reviews.
