Job summary

Wabtec in Erie, PA is seeking an Engineering Technical Leader to drive mechanical design of electric rotating machines, including motors, fans and alternators, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet ambitious objectives. You will lead design, testing, validation planning, field and manufacturing support, and drive innovation on multiple machine topologies for rail, off-highway and battery electric applications.

Travel <10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have hardware design experience (motors, turbo, fans, etc.) and understanding of electric rotating machines.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), bolted joints, stress analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to provide instructions, report, and present information.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or with a small team to design and develop new products and improvements to existing products using sound engineering principles and meeting product requirements.
• Prepare documentation required by the product development process such as design requirements, validation plans, 3D models/drawings and test reports.
• Provide support and recommendations to management, lead business case discussions for multi-generation product planning.
• Ensure technical quality and timely completion of work and participate in reviews.
• Lead communication on technical and business issues between organizations and within work groups.
• Mentor and coach team members; ensure compliance initiatives and training.
