Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Mukilteo, WA seeks a propulsion engineer to design and develop propulsion devices for aerospace and defense programs. You will drive ballistic modeling, create conceptual and detailed designs, and support analyses from concept through delivery.

The role requires 2–5 years in aerospace/defense, SolidWorks proficiency, and knowledge of GD&T with the possibility to obtain a DoD security clearance. On-site role in Mukilteo with competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent field, or relevant experience and registration.
• 2–5 years aerospace/defense engineering experience typical.
• Solid understanding of propulsion systems and ballistics modeling.
• Proven experience designing robust mechanical hardware.
• Knowledge of military and commercial design specs.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Experience with CAD/CAE tools for mechanical systems.
• DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop propulsion devices and systems supporting aerospace/defense programs.
• Drive system-level ballistic modeling and propulsion sizing.
• Create 2‑D layouts and 3‑D solid models of propulsion concepts.
• Support structural analysis and manufacturability considerations.
• Document performance requirements, tests, and compliance evidence.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide propulsion guidance.
