Job summary

Allocor.Tech in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Product Owner for propulsion systems to turn backlog items into a market-ready stack for eVTOL and related platforms.

You will own Taurus variants, voltage SKUs, and firmware features, working with EE, firmware, and customers to sequence work and cut nonessential scope, while aligning 18- and 24-month bets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years owning a technical product in power electronics, motor drives, avionics, or propulsion.
• Solid EE/firmware background to discuss current loops, isolation, and CAN.
• Experience with aerospace or advanced-vehicle OEMs.
• Ability to decide between COTS, MOTS, and custom solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own propulsion backlog: Taurus variants, voltage/power SKUs, firmware feature flags, packaging, accessories.
• Turn customer needs like “400 V, regen, eight-week MOTS” into sequenced work.
• Write requirements hardware and firmware can actually build. Kill nice-to-haves that blow SWaP or schedule.
• Partner with sales on positioning, spec sheets, and which custom asks become catalog.
• Keep the 18-month versus 24-month product bets honest.

The role

Allocortech does not need a backlog janitor. We need someone who understands why four-quadrant FOC, voltage class, SWaP-C, and certification timeline are the product — and can turn that into a roadmap OEMs will buy.

Taurus motor controllers, Clio power/comms hubs, and the surrounding battery/PDU work already power eVTOL, hybrid cargo aircraft, and electric hydrofoils. Your job is to productize that stack.

What You Will Do

• Own the propulsion backlog: Taurus variants, voltage/power SKUs, firmware feature flags, packaging, accessories.
• Sit with EE, FOC firmware, and customers and turn “400 V, regen, eight-week MOTS” into sequenced work.
• Write requirements hardware and firmware can actually build. Kill nice-to-haves that blow SWaP or schedule.
• Partner with sales on positioning, spec sheets, and which custom asks become catalog.
• Keep the 18-month versus 24-month product bets honest.

What You Bring

• 5+ years owning a technical product on power electronics, motor drives, avionics, or vehicle propulsion.
• Enough EE/firmware literacy to argue current loops, isolation, and CAN without hiding behind Jira.
• Comfort in front of aerospace, defense, or advanced-vehicle OEMs.
• Judgment on COTS vs. MOTS vs. custom — and the discipline to say no.
• Bonus: eVTOL/UAS, hybrid-electric, or maritime electric programs.

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package.
