Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a background in mechanical design of spacecraft components, precision testing equipment, tooling and fixtures. The role is within the propulsion team, and the ideal candidate has experience in mechanical spacecraft hardware from conception through flight qualification, with understanding of materials and processes, GD&T, and design to dynamic and thermal requirements. Favorable consideration is given for experience developing components, assemblies, and mechanisms for operation in high-vacuum environments. Propulsion background is desired but not required, and the position offers the opportunity for a strong candidate to join an exciting project in the field of spacecraft electric propulsion. This is a hands-on role for a highly collaborative individual that combines superb technical and analytical capabilities to transition theoretical guidance and requirements into performant hardware optimized to be lightweight, cost-effective, and manufacturable.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
