Job summary

Firefly Aerospace offers year-round engineering-focused internship opportunities in Texas. As an Intern, you will support a growing team moving the launch business toward full-rate production.

Ideal candidates will enjoy hands-on work, be able to read drawings, and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment. Candidates should be pursuing a BS or MS in Engineering and have experience with CAD software, 3D modeling, GD&T, and lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a BS or MS program (or a recent graduate) at an accredited four-year university or college.
• Willing to work in a hands-on, constantly evolving environment.
• Communicates effectively, verbal and written.
• Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings.
• Solid understanding of GD&T and ASME standards.
• Proficiency in design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) considerations.
• Passion for Advanced Manufacturing technologies and applications.
• Experience with CAD Software and 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Desire to gain exposure to Aerospace propulsion and fluid systems.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures, and procedures
• Drive projects to improve cost and cycle times
• Research new manufacturing methods and production processes
• Identify waste and implement process improvement opportunities
• Development of fabrication tooling
• Support Lean Manufacturing Initiatives
• Develop and implement a system support process and documentation
• Perform engineering analysis to determine root cause / corrective action on problem areas
