Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Propulsion Engineering Intern to assist design, development and testing of propulsion components. You will collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, and vendors to move hardware from concept through testing.

Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions span approximately 16, 12, and 16 weeks respectively. The role emphasizes hands-on design, engine hardware, and rigorous testing, with an hourly wage of $25–$33.

Qualifications

  • Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects.
  • Currently enrolled in a STEM program (undergrad year 3/4 or grad studies).
  • Strong interest in propulsion systems and engineering fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; GPA 3.0+.

About The Role:

As a Propulsion Engineering Intern, you will support the design, development, and testing of propulsion components and systems. You will work closely with engineers, manufacturing teams, and vendors to help bring propulsion hardware from concept through testing.

Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)

Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)

Fall: Around 16 weeks (September - December)

Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of propulsion components and systems from conceptual design through detailed mechanical design
  • Create and release engineering drawings and collaborate with manufacturing teams and external vendors to produce hardware
  • Assist in defining, configuring, and setting up propulsion test rigs
  • Support the execution and documentation of propulsion hardware testing and development activities
Requirements:
  • Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).
  • Strong interest in propulsion systems, design, and testing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.

$25 - $33 an hour

The hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level.
