Job summary

Zone 5 Technologies is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to design, analyze, and test propulsion systems for air-launched effects, tactical interceptors, and next-generation munitions. Work spans concept through production, collaborating with Airframe, GNC, and Manufacturing to ensure propulsion reliability under demanding flight conditions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
• 3+ years in propulsion design, analysis, or testing from concept to production.
• Experience with solid rocket motor design and internal ballistics.
• Familiarity with static/hot fire tests and instrumentation/data reduction.
• Programming in Python or MATLAB for modeling and analysis.
• US Person (ITAR) and ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze propulsion systems across programs from concept to qualification.
• Perform ballistics, structural, and thermal analyses of motor components.
• Develop propulsion models and support vehicle-level design and trade studies.
• Support test campaigns: planning, data reduction, and investigations.
• Integrate propulsion subsystems with airframe and launch mechanisms.
• Advise on hardware fundamentals and producibility with cross-functional teams.
• Present findings at reviews and internal discussions.
