At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, focusing on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Our family of engines powers the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

In this role you will join a team to address non-conforming hardware throughout flight engine production, develop design improvements for rocket engine components and assemblies, and drive design-for-manufacturability improvements. You will update assembly procedures and CAD models/drawings using configuration management. The ability to balance multiple technical issues and a commitment to continuous learning and collaboration are valued.

Some components you could be responsible for include: heat exchangers, primary and secondary structures, gimbal joints, flexible elements, insulation, and pressurized fluid systems.

Responsibilities
  • Address non-conforming hardware identified through flight engine production and root cause analyses.
  • Develop design improvements for rocket engine components and assemblies to transition toward flight production.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability improvements and update assembly procedures.
  • Detail and release changes within CAD models/drawings using configuration management processes.
  • Balance multiple technical issues and work with a collaborative, continuous-learning team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of proven experience with component design, fabrication, build, and assembly.
  • Experience solving issues related to non-conforming hardware.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and large assembly model and configuration management (Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM preferred).
  • Knowledgeable with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
  • B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design, production, manufacturing, and assembly of propulsion hardware.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
