Job summary

SmithGroup in Sacramento seeks a Proposal Specialist to lead coordination, writing and production of statements of qualifications, proposals and presentations. You will guide win strategies and attend interview coaching, developing boilerplates and major pursuit sections.

You will also analyze market trends, coordinate with studio principals, and contribute to brand messaging while ensuring marketing and governance guidelines are followed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the A/E/C industry required.
  • CPSM certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and InDesign required.
  • Knowledge of Dynamics and OpenAsset preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and delivery methods.
  • Ability to understand layout and graphic principles for marketing collateral.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in written and graphic form.
  • Strong time and project management skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager for coordination, writing, editing and production of statements of qualifications, proposals, and presentations.
  • Guide development and execution of go/no-go decisions, planning, and win strategies to capture work.
  • Participate in pre-interview planning and rehearsal with design teams and develop win strategies in materials.
  • Lead development of proposal sections for major strategic pursuits.
  • Coordinate, write, edit/tailor, and research non-technical proposal sections.
  • Solicit and coordinate information from allied professionals and team members for materials.
  • Analyze Practice portfolios and market trends to create marketing content and win strategies.
  • Serve as marketing liaison to studio principals and participate in regional initiatives.
  • Support brand messaging and capture planning research; follow guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain firmwide marketing database and keep bios, project descriptions, and statistics up to date.

The Sacramento office of SmithGroupis looking for aProposal Specialistto join our team.

Working with us, you will:
Proposal and Pursuit Presentations (70%):
  • Servesas project manager for the coordination, writing, editing and production of statements of qualifications, proposals, presentations and other marketingcollateral.

  • Guidesthe development and execution of go/no-go decision-making, planning, and win strategies tosuccessfully capture work.

  • Participatesin pre-interview planning and presentation rehearsal with design teams and help develop and apply the established win strategy in presentation materials.

  • Assistsin the development ofpursuit strategy.

  • Assistswith interview coaching.

  • Development/maintenance of sector focused boilerplate to be used as master in proposals.

  • May lead the development ofproposal sections of major strategic pursuits.

  • Coordinates, writes, edits/tailors, and performsresearch for non-technical proposal sections.

  • Solicitsand coordinatesinformation from allied professionals, sub consultants and other team members for inclusion in proposal and presentation materials.

Messaging & Strategy (20%):
  • Analyze and interpret Practice portfolios and associated market expertise along with key trends and drivers that impact the market and translate them into actionable marketing content and win strategies.

  • Serves as the key marketing liaison to studio principal(s).

  • Participates in key regional initiatives including thought leadership and events.

  • Participates in brand building including the development of key market-level messaging.

  • Assists in capture planning research.

  • Servesas a subject matter expert on, advocate, and actively follow marketing and brand guidelines and procedures.

Information Systems & Administration(10%):
  • Maintainsfirmwide database with employee, project and proposal information on an ongoing basis.

  • Gathers, formatsand maintainsaccurate, up-to-date firm marketing information including staff bios, project descriptions and statistics, and other information for marketing purposes.

An Ideal Candidate has:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the A/E/C industry required.
  • CPSM certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and InDesign required.
  • Knowledge ofDynamics andOpenAssetpreferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing fundamentals.

While we may ultimately pay more or less than a posted salary range, at the time of posting the anticipated salary range for this position is $78,000 to $86,000 annually and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus each year.
