Job summary

ORBIS Corporation in Illinois is seeking a CAD/drafting professional to support proposal drawings and cost estimates for manufactured products. You will analyze blueprints, specifications, and other docs to produce detailed drawings and volume/weight estimates, collaborating with Proposal and Advanced Engineering teams.

Requirements include a high school diploma or technical training in Mechanical Drafting, 6–12 months CAD experience, and ability to read and interpret technical material.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School Graduation Diploma, Technical School or equivalency preferably with a degree or certificate in Mechanical Drafting; and six months to one year practical experience using CAD; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documentation and generate accurate drawings and estimates.
• Proficient in CAD tools and able to prepare data for cost quotes and customer inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering assessments to develop accurate quotations within company capabilities and profitability.
• Utilizes CAD equipment to develop data for cost estimation and customer inquiries.
• Regularly communicates with Proposal & Advanced Engineering Manager to stay informed and aligned.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as directed and maintains quality of work.

About The Opportunity

Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare proposal drawings, sketches and working models. Responsible for producing detailed volume/weight estimates for products to be manufactured by ORBIS.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Performs all necessary engineering assessments in coordination with Proposal and Advanced Engineering Manager (insuring that sufficient data is provided) for others to develop accurate quotations from, that are within the scope of the companies ability and at the required level of profitability.
• Utilize computer aided drafting equipment in the development of the data required for others to correctly estimate costs. Also includes sufficient information to satisfy the customer’s inquiry and demonstrate the abilities of Creative Techniques, Inc.
• Regularly confers with the Proposal & Advanced Engineering Manager keeping same informed of all activity, seeking advice, direction and instruction as deemed necessary and appropriate.
• Performs miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as directed.
• Empowerment to take responsibility for the quality of work performed.

Education And/or Experience

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
