Job summary

DuCharme, McMillen & Associates, Inc. in Austin, TX seeks a Tax Manager, Property Tax to lead assessment strategies, manage key client engagements, and drive measurable tax savings while ensuring quality and timely deliverables.

The role requires 5+ years in property tax or related fields, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and strong command of Excel, Outlook, and Word. Traveling up to 20% is possible; you’ll mentor staff and collaborate across the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in property tax, valuation, or accounting.
• Experience negotiating with contract appraisal firms (Capital, P&A) and their valuation methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and Word; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review assessment strategies; represent clients during appeals and hearings with state and local taxing authorities.
• Produce and review analyses supporting DMA’s positions; ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of Reports of Findings and other client communications.
• Utilize DMA valuation models and templates; determine prior client methodologies; identify exemptions and abatements; quantify tax‑savings opportunities.
• Conduct and/or oversee on‑site property inspections; drive business development: identify and scope opportunities and meet with prospects.
• Manage assigned accounts: develop, sustain, and expand client relationships; serve as the primary point of contact.
• Maintain accurate data in DMA’s review management system for cases, assessments, property/fixed‑asset data, and jurisdictional details.
• Oversee production, billing, and invoicing for assigned work; track and manage jurisdictional deadlines for filings and protests.
• Monitor industry trends and tax developments; share insights with clients and internal teams.
• Work independently while leading cross‑functional efforts; provide guidance and informal coaching to team members.
