Job summary

Aon Corporation is seeking a Property Risk Control Consultant to join its Property Risk Consulting Group. The role focuses on assessing property risks from fire, earthquake, flood, and other natural catastrophes, with a remote work arrangement and travel to client sites as needed.

The successful candidate will conduct Nat Cat surveys, develop underwriting reports, and collaborate with clients and carriers to translate risk data into actionable controls and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • 8 to 10 years with a Highly Protected Risk insurer or vendor.
  • Familiar with NFPA and FM Global standards; evaluate fire protection systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Physically fit; able to climb ladders and access roofs during surveys.
  • Ability to work from home.

Responsibilities

  • Complete property risk control surveys and develop property underwriting reports.
  • Conduct Nat Cat surveys and populate modeling inputs.
  • Review data to determine natural catastrophe exposure; analyze flood exposure per NFIP/FEMA.
  • Coordinate vendor RFPs.
  • Know B&M jurisdictional inspection requirements.
  • Develop and review MFL, PML and NLE estimates.
  • Assess hazards across occupancies (manufacturing, warehousing, etc.).
  • Apply client standards and NFPA/FM practices to resolve fire protection issues.
  • Travel 30–40% to visit client sites.

Aon is looking for a Risk Consultant for our Property Consulting Group

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Property Risk Control Consultant. This position will support Aon's Property Risk Consulting Group.

The successful candidate can expect to work with colleagues and clients to develop an understanding of the many property risks posed by fire, earthquake, flood, and other Natural Catastrophes.

This is a remote opportunity but there will be some travel involved.

What the day will look like
  • The successful applicant should be familiar with the following:
  • Assembly of Construction, Occupancy, Protection and Exposure (COPE) Data.
  • Brokerage submission information
  • Data assembly
  • Summary documents
  • Broker renewal support
  • Attendance & participation at carrier meetings
  • Vendor management
  • Recommendation review & analysis

Complete property risk control surveys and develop property underwriting reports for a variety of occupancies:

  • Conduct Nat Cat surveys and populate primary and secondary modeling characteristics for modeling.
  • Review of available data to determine natural catastrophe exposure at client locations. Use of available online tools to analyze flood exposures in accordance with NIFP and FEMA guidelines.
  • Coordination of vendor RFPs
  • Knowledge of B&M Jurisdictional inspection requirements
  • Development and review of Maximum Foreseeable (MFL), Probable Maximum (PML) and Normal Loss (NLE) estimates.
  • Hazards associated with a variety of occupancies including manufacturing, warehousing, soft occupancies, etc.
  • Problem solving using the application of Client Standards, NFPA, FM Global or other best practices to resolve technical fire protection issues.
  • 30 to 40% travel will be involved as you may have to visit client sites.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 8 to 10 years with a Highly Protected Risk insurance carrier or vendor.
  • Technically proficient in understanding, interpreting, and applying NFPA and/or FM Global standards; and, evaluating fire protection systems (automatic sprinklers, special extinguishing systems, etc.)
  • Ideal candidate is self-sufficient, organized, and has good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be physical fit and able to climb ladders and stairs and transition to and from ladders or stairs to access building roof areas and upper or lower floors within a customer site during surveys.
  • Ability to work from home.
Education:
  • Fire protection certification preferred but not required.

For positions in San Francisco and Los Angeles, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction record in accordance with local Fair Chance ordinances.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $150,000 to $160,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
