Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, is seeking a role within the Office of Protection Services (OPS) to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, and national collections across the Smithsonian.

Job description

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo—shaping the future by preserving heritage, discovering new knowledge, and sharing our resources with the world. This position is located in the Office of Protection Services (OPS) responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff, visitors, and national collections across the Smithsonian.

Experience:You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:

  • providing knowledge of contracting/procurement procedures to subordinate professional, and technical and support personnel;
  • writingor advising statements of work for acquisitions and services;
  • overseeing the purchase card program;
  • managing accountable property; and
  • providing leadership, direction and planning to subordinate professional, and technical and support personnel.
