A leading property maintenance service is seeking a Property Maintenance Technician to manage upkeep across residential properties in Bozeman, MT. The role entails performing maintenance, landscaping, and operational tasks essential for client satisfaction and property management. The successful candidate will have experience in facilities maintenance and a knack for DIY repairs.
Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. (“ WDS ”) is a Qualified Insurance Resource (QIR) operating the largest private sector wildfire service in the nation, encompassing a 22-state service area and specializing in wildfire education, loss prevention, and wildfire response services. Qualified Insurance Resources are defined as NWCG qualified or equivalent, wildland engines, tenders, hand crews, fire/liaison officers, and personnel working for or contracted by an insurance company with a mission to mitigate impacts on insured structures threatened by wildfire. WDS holds contracts with insurance companies to provide wildfire loss prevention services. WDS fields experienced, highly trained, safety-focused wildfire officers and fire personnel that hold a wide range of Federal Wildfire Incident Command position classifications necessary to meet or exceed all federal wildfire operation standards and codes including all requirements of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (“ NWCG ”) or equivalent. WDS is capable of providing more than 180 wildland engines and hundreds of fire personnel and support personnel.WDS has served large and small insurance clients since 2008.
The Property Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of general maintenance, landscaping, ranch support, and minor facilities services across private residential properties in Bozeman, MT. This role supports the Facilities Property Management sub-department by ensuring that all grounds, buildings, and infrastructure are maintained in excellent condition. The technician will also assist with special projects and provide support for private events and seasonal readiness.
With a hybrid scope that includes support for the Facilities Department and assistance with client specific properties, this position is essential in delivering responsive service, operational continuity, and client satisfaction.
This position reports directly to the assigned Client Representative and works closely with the Facilities Property Management sub-department, vendors, contractors, and other service providers as needed.
· Perform general maintenance of residential homes including minor plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, painting, weather proofing, facility's mechanical equipment, control systems, power distribution systems, and HVAC systems.
· Assist with maintenance and upkeep of all ranch-related infrastructure such as fencing, driveways, water lines, outbuildings, and utility sheds
· Conduct groundskeeping duties including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, weeding, raking, fertilizing, and planting
· Operate and maintain landscaping and snow removal equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, snowblowers, chainsaws, etc.)
· Provide snow removal services using plows, blowers, shovels, and salt/sand spreading as needed
· Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs to a facility's systems and equipment.
· Support seasonal readiness by preparing irrigation systems, winterizing structures, and completing seasonal clean-up projects
· Perform minor equipment maintenance and ensure that all property and shop tools are kept in safe operating condition
· Conduct property inspections and document or report items in need of repair, replacement, or safety attention.
· Orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
· Assist in vendor coordination and escort service providers as needed for specialized work
· Provide support for special projects such as event setup, pressure washing, staging spaces, or temporary furniture arrangement
· Perform minor cleaning and sanitation duties in maintenance zones, workspaces, and event preparation areas
· Maintain organized and clean workspaces, tool storage, and supply areas
· Dispose of waste and recycling materials from work activities appropriately
· Follow all safety regulations, including use of PPE and adherence to company policies
· Remain available for urgent requests and emergency repairs during off-hours on a rotating or as-needed basis
· Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
· Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.
· Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.
· High school diploma or equivalent; vocational, technical, or agricultural training preferred.
· May have completed a trade apprenticeship or technical training.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in property, ranch, landscaping, or facilities maintenance
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
· Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
· Comfortable using tools and machinery related to grounds and facilities work
· Solid understanding of property systems, grounds maintenance, and rural infrastructure
· Ability to read and interpret basic repair manuals, diagrams, and instruction sheets
· Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
· Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship
· Respectful of client property, privacy, and household dynamics
· Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to support various property-related needs
· Excellent communication skills with clients, coworkers, and vendors
· Ability to adapt to changing priorities and seasonal demands
