Overview

Selective Insurance is seeking a Property Field Claims Specialist to cover our Baltimore, MD territory. This fully remote position includes a company vehicle. Applicants must reside nearby or be willing to relocate at their own expense. The role involves handling Property and Inland Marine claims, typically with exposures of $25,000 to $100,000, including investigating claims, estimating damages, and ensuring accurate settlements in compliance with legal standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage property/inland marine claims within assigned region and assist in other regions as needed.
• Evaluate and settle damages primarily between $25,000 and $100,000, occasionally exceeding $100,000.
• Handle Business Income losses.
• Respond as part of the catastrophe team during large-scale claim events.
• Make coverage determinations, negotiate, reserve, and settle claims within authority.
• Assist regional claims managers with coverage and estimating.
• Address legal, regulatory, or appeal requests.
• Travel within territory using a personal vehicle, approximately 75% of the time.

Qualifications

• Ability to work varying shifts.
• Proficiency in claim-specific software and efficient keyboarding skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.

Education & Experience

• College degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of claims experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines coverages.

Compensation & Benefits
