Job description

You will investigate and maintain property claims. Determine liability, secure information, review coverage, arrange appraisal, and settle claims. Travel may vary between 25% - 75%. You will work in the field and report to the Property Claim Manager, handling homeowner property field claims typically within 30 minutes from the Salt Lake City, UT area. You must be located within that metro area. A company fleet vehicle is provided, with an option for personal use. Location: This is primarily a field-based role, spending 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working in the field, directly interacting with customers. Occasionally, you may be asked to travel to an office for in-person activities such as meetings, training, and culture events.

Position Compensation Range: $56,000.00 - $92,000.00

Pay Rate Type: Salary

Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  1. Investigate the origin and cause of claims by contacting relevant parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, the special investigation unit, other adjusters, and public personnel.
  2. Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed. Handle claims in good faith.
  3. Handle both first-party and third-party claims under various policy types and endorsements.
  4. Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
  5. Respond to customer inquiries, make decisions, and close files as necessary.
  6. Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contracts, applying them to each case.
  7. Proactively communicate claim process and status to all parties; answer questions or redirect as needed.
  8. Complete other assignments or participate in projects based on skills, achievements, or experience.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Experience handling first- and third-party, multi-line claims across territories or equivalent.
  • Experience managing moderately complex claims or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages or similar.
  • Understanding of all phases of the claim handling process or similar.

Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • State-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50% travel; up to 75% during catastrophe duty.

Physical Requirements

  • Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles; visiting areas with higher hazards such as customer homes or body shops.
  • Moving in various positions to perform tasks in different environments, including tight spaces.
  • Handling objects up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to low and high temperatures, outdoor elements, noisy environments, hazardous conditions, poor ventilation, and confined spaces.

Experience with Xactimate is preferred.
