Job summary

Everest Reinsurance Company in New York is seeking a Property Facultative Underwriter to manage new business production, renewals, and direct/intermediary relationships. You will travel for market coverage after training and collaborate with claims, accounting, and product management to drive company objectives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of Property Underwriting experience, strong marketing and communication skills, and familiarity with catastrophe modeling and actuarial

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Property Underwriter with large accounts.
  • Excellent marketing skills and established relationships with insurance companies.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering reports.
  • Prior reinsurance experience a plus.
  • Ability to interpret catastrophe modeling and actuarial methodologies and output.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.

Responsibilities

  • New business production and renewal underwriting while following underwriting rules and guidelines, building relationships.
  • Collaborate with claims, accounting, and product management to support company objectives.
  • Travel after the initial training period and market travel to assigned markets/territory.
  • Build relationships with ceding companies and reinsurance intermediaries.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor capabilities and the overall insurance marketplace.
  • Experience with catastrophe models is a plus.
  • Property Facultative experience preferred.
  • Experience with specialty business (power generation, mid-stream production, refining/petrochemical, specialty chemicals, renewables, mining) preferred.

Job Description

Everest has established itself as one of the foremost facultative markets in the United States. To support this, we are currently looking for a Property Facultative Underwriter. Responsibilities will include building and maintaining direct and intermediary business relationships where opportunities are cultivated, underwritten, and bound at your general discretion.

Job Requirements
  • New business production and renewal underwriting as well as adherence to underwriting rules and guidelines and developing strong customer relationships through providing top-notch service.
  • Work with all functional areas of the company including claims, accounting, and product management to support company objectives.
  • Ability to travel. This individual would be expected to spend time on the road after the initial training process.
  • Marketing that includes travel monthly or as needed, to assigned markets and territory.
  • Build relationship with ceding companies and reinsurance intermediaries
  • Maintain awareness of competitor capabilities and strategies, as well as the overall insurance marketplace.
  • Experience working with catastrophe models a plus.
  • Property Facultative experience preferred.
  • Experience with specialty business is also preferred (power generation, mid-stream production, refining/petrochemical, specialty chemicals, renewables, and mining).

  • Excellent marketing skills and established relationships with insurance companies.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills with the ability to flourish in a team environment.
  • The ability to interpret engineering reports.
  • Prior Reinsurance experience a plus.
  • The ability to interpret catastrophe modeling and actuarial methodologies and output.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $145,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
