Major Duties

• Reviews excess property reports for technical accuracy and inspects property to ensure item identities and conditions are correctly described.
• Supports customer inquiries and actions related to property.
• Researches, reconciles, and advises on a broad range of database rejects and records discrepancies for many different types of property disposal actions.
• Serves as the primary visitor control point of contact for DLA Disposition Services and manually screens all incoming and outgoing vehicles, passenger baggage, and personnel prior to entering field office facilities.
• Manages the scheduling database for incoming and outbound shipment appointments.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for a Property Disposal Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: GS-07: Applying property disposal policies, procedures, and objectives. Completing property disposal assignments and resolving individual case problems GS-05: Referencing property disposal policies, procedures, and objectives. Assisting with property disposal tasks under close supervision. OR B. Education Substitution: Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience at grade GS-05. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
