Richmond County Sheriff's Office seeks an Appraiser III to valuate personal property in Augusta-Richmond County under Georgia law. The role audits returns, defends values before the Board of Equalization, and assists taxpayers with records and questions.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED; five years of auditing/appraisal experience; preferred Bachelor's in Accounting with three years of related work. Travel may be required; strong computer and record-keeping skills are essential.

Formación

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Five years of experience in personal property auditing and appraisal.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field with three years of experience.
• Knowledge of Georgia tax laws pertaining to personal property.
• Proficiency in record keeping and computer use.
• Must complete Appraiser III exam within 36 months and be certified by the Georgia DOR.

Responsabilidades

• Audits business returns and financial documents; performs random audits.
• Reviews amendment accounts to ensure eligibility and updated values.
• Prepares cases and defends values to Board of Equalization.
• Determines property eligible to be taxed and verifies eligibility and value of tax exemption requests.
• Classifies personal property by category and estimated useful life class.
• Assists the public by answering questions concerning the valuation of personal property and gathering data for the property digest.
• May supervise and/or train designated personnel.
